I have first seen a little pill that gets swallowed to take pictures of the GI tract on House MD. I think it's the most clever thing ever. Want to take a look at the GI tract? Exploratory surgery used to be it. Then scoping. Neither of those are much fun and while scoping is way less invasive, it is still quite a procedure.'Alicum,' an Ambulatary Light-Based Imaging Camera for Canines. Photo Veterinary Practice News |
What if, instead of all that, a dog could just swallow a little pill that would provide a perfect view of what is inside the GI tract?
Such thing now exists.
I think this is totally awesome. I would definitely want this used on my dogs instead of other options. Surgery or a scope may or may not be needed depending on the problem but this to me is the perfect way to take a look and see what needs to be done.
