Good Health and Veterinary Highlights: Transnare Cryoablation - Freezing Nasal Tumors. Elvonda
Radiation therapy is considered the treatment of choice for nasal tumors. It's interesting, though, because ever since I read Dr. Goldstein's book I always felt that freezing would be one of the things on my list of considerations.Twice in the recent past I found myself recommending my friends to see whether cryotherapy could be an option for their dog's nasal tumor.
Radiation treatments are also evolving since the availability of stereotactic radiation therapy, which is very targeted to the point of "radiation surgery."
One way or another, targeting the tumor while leaving normal tissue alone is the way to go.
I'll be curious to see if anybody will come up with some data comparing the stereotactic radiation therapy and the cryoablation. Both sound quite good, though cryoablation for some reason sounds better to me. But that might be just a personal bias.
